FAQS ~ Frequently Asked Questions.

What is happening next?

During the spring of 2006, the Municipality of Anchorage, Project Management & Engineering Dept. (PM&E) completed the preliminary engineering phase of this project.  Widening the existing alley was selected as the best solution to the neighborhood circulation problem.  Currently, the design team is working on the detailed design of this solution.  Once design is complete, construction will proceed.

What could the finished roadway look like?

The sketch (link below) shows improvements as presented in the draft Design Study Report.  The project team is working with the community to help fine-tune this design.  For example, the team held conversations with residents and owners of the multi-family homes on the south side of the street to discuss how to safely accommodate pedestrians and residents’ parking.  On the north side of the street, opportunities exist to accommodate pedestrian facilities and landscaping to make this corridor an aesthetically pleasing community asset.
For more information, see the Preferred Alternative
.

What are the Right-of-Way Impacts?

In order to widen the alley, it was necessary to acquire the two properties on the north side of Chance Court.  The Municipality of Anchorage has reached agreement with both property owners.
